CLAY MILLICAN AND PARTS PLUS TOP FUEL TEAM PARTNER WITH KANSAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD FOR NHRA SUMMER NATIONALS
by Steve Jones

Clay Millican and the MPE Motorsports Parts Plus Top Fuel Team are proud to announce a partnership with the Kansas Army National Guard (KSARNG) for this weekend’s NHRA Summer Nationals at Heartland Park Topeka, in Topeka, KS. The Parts Plus Top Fuel car will prominently display the KSARNG colors and logo, and the KSARNG Recruiting and Retention Battalion will be prominently displayed in the team’s pit side hospitality throughout the weekend.
“I am thrilled and honored to have the opportunity to participate with the Kansas Army National Guard during the weekend in Topeka,” Clay Millican said, “The men and women of the Guard are among America’s finest soldiers, some of whom I visited with during my trip to Iraq.  I have seen firsthand, the commitment and level of service devoted to protecting our freedom, by members of the Army National Guard.”  Millican added, “To be able to carry the Kansas Army National Guard colors on our car this weekend is a distinct honor for me and every member of this team.”
Millican is looking forward to racing in Topeka this weekend, “I’ve had some good runs at Heartland Park Topeka, where I made it to a Semi-Final and a year later made it to the Final. I would love nothing more to repeat that with a little different outcome this weekend with the Parts Plus car”, Millican said.
In addition to the involvement with Millican and the Parts Plus team, Soldiers and a variety of equipment from the Kansas National Guard will be on hand at Heartland Park during the three day event.  On display will be a M2A3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle and High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) from 69th Troop Command, Topeka; a M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) from the 635th Regional Support Group, Hutchinson; an analytical lab, decontamination truck and survey vehicle from the 73rd Civil Support Team (Weapons of Mass Destruction, Topeka; and a display from Recruiting and Retention Battalion, Topeka.

The Parts Plus Top Fuel car will begin qualifying for the event Friday, with sessions at 5:00 and 7:30 p.m. (CDT), continuing on Saturday at 12:30 and 3:00 p.m. (CDT), with Eliminations on Championship Sunday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
